The board of directors for the Fresno Business Council (FBC) and the San Joaquin Valley Manufacturing Alliance (SJVMA) have named Genelle Taylor Kumpe as both the FBC’s first chief operating officer and the SJVMA’s first executive director, effective Sept. 1.

“After serving the Fresno Business Council for over a quarter-century, and working alongside business leaders to transform our community, I could not be more excited about Genelle’s new executive appointments,” said FBC CEO Deborah Nankivell. “She served during our first major initiative launched in 2000 and had remained a trusted colleague of both the Fresno Business Council and myself for many years.”

From 1999 to 2013, Kumpe worked in entrepreneurship education at Fresno State with the last ten of those years as the associate director for the Lyles Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurship. For three years, she served as the executive director for the Marjaree Mason Center, and she was named Woman of the Year by the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society in 2018, where she is on the leadership committee. She’s also a member of the Valley Children’s Hospital Guild.

“As a proud and long-time Valley resident, I have been privileged to witness the impact of good people giving back to the community and silos being broken down in the spirit of collaboration,” Kumpe said. “I am honored to work alongside the SJVMA Board and membership comprised of successful business-and civic-minded individuals who are dedicated to assisting the SJVMA to succeed in the years ahead.”
