Kingsburg is among six California cities where sales tax rates will go up starting Oct. 1.

The rate in Kingsburg will rise 1 percent to 8.975 percent, according to an announcement issued today by the California Department of Tax and Fee Administration.

The other cities raising their tax rates are Chula Vista, Corte Madera, Grass Valley, Huntington Park and Santa Cruz.

In June Kingsburg voters passed Measure E, a 1 percent sales tax measure to fund public safety services.

To look up the sales tax rate by street address, go online to the California Department of Tax and Fee Administration website.
