Kaweah Delta Health Care District is partnering with Donor Network West this month to help increase the number of registered organ and tissue donors in Tulare County.

Throughout the Donor Awareness Month of April, there will be four events in Tulare County to provide information to people on how to become donors.

Kaweah Delta will also provide education on the importance of having advance directives, or documents with special instructions for how a person would like to receive medical treatment in the event they are sick and unable to communicate.

The information will be available at the following events:

• April 20: 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Kaweah Delta South Campus Cafeteria, 1633 S. Court St. in Visalia

• April 21: 6:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Kaweah Delta Medical Center, 400 W. Mineral King Ave. in Visalia

• April 22: 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Exeter Health Clinic Main Lobby, 1014 San Juan Ave. in Exeter

• April 28: 7 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Kaweah Delta Rehabilitation Hospital, 840 S. Akers St. in Visalia

Donor Network West is a regional organ procurement organization covering northern California and Nevada. Of the 22,600 people waiting for a life-saving transplant in California and Nevada, 10,600 or 47 percent, are estimated to reside in the Donor Network service area.

More information on organ donor registration is available at DonorNetworkWest.org or through the Department of Motor Vehicles.
