Kaiser Permanente Fresno is making an effort to support its local economy by contracting with more small and diversely owned local businesses.

A new National Supplier Diversity Program recently launched is meant to help support local businesses interested in supplying Kaiser Permanente with goods and services.

“We believe in supporting local businesses that reflect the community where our employees live and work,” said Wade Nogy, senior vice president and area manager for Kaiser Permanente Fresno. “By enhancing our network of suppliers, we can support local businesses and further invest in the local economy.”

Kaiser Permanente has created a supplier portal where small businesses or those owned by minorities, women, veterans, LGBT community members and people with disabilities, can become an official provider of goods and services.

Business products, construction equipment, furniture, medical products and pharmaceuticals, professional consulting and catering are some of the business opportunities available.

Common qualifications for application include: Federal Tax ID or Social Security Number, Adherence to Kaiser Permanente’s Vendor Code of Conduct and financial stability (at least three years of business experience).
