The San Joaquin Joint Powers Authority (SJJPA) and managers and administrators of Amtrak San Joaquins intercity passenger rail service is seeking input from Valley residents on how to modify its schedule to accommodate weekday riders headed for Sacramento for business and leisure.

One of the options being considered is the addition of an early morning train from Fresno to Sacramento, allowing Fresnans to arrive in the state capitol by 8 a.m.

SJJPA is also considering other improvements to its Sacramento branch with the goal of aligning train times to better serve riders. SJJPA also plans to increase the number of daily round-trips to make travel to Sacramento more convenient and efficient.

To do this, SJJPA is gathering data on ridership interest and preferences from San Joaquin Valley residents who travel to Sacramento for work or leisure. Residents can fill out a survey that SJJPA will use to guide the schedule modifications.
