Fast-growing Western wear retailer Boot Barn will open a new 10,000 square-foot store in Hanford in the next month, carving out a corner of the vacant Forever 21 space at the Hanford Mall.

The Los Angeles-based chain opened a Selma location in late 2017, and also has nearby stores in Fresno and Tulare. The chain was launched in 1978 in Huntington Beach and now has more than 200 stores in 29 states.

Famous for its line of both work boots and decorative varieties, the store has a full line of men’s, women’s and kids’ western boots as well as hats, jeans, gifts and home décor.

The former Forever 21 store at the mall is being remodeled by its owner, who is dividing the former 80,000 square-foot space into four tenant spots. Tenants include a new trampoline gym, Urban Air, being remodeled now; the new Boot Barn; a 20,000 square-foot tenant who has yet to be announced but has signed a leased and another 9,900 square-foot space, said Joanne Doerter, mall manager .

Next on the mall’s agenda is to re-lease and divide the now vacant 76,000 square-foot Sears space at the mall, still tied up with the bankruptcy process.
