Tioga-Sequoia Brewing, the Fresno Grizzlies and rapper Fashawn have joined forces on a new beer collaboration called Grizzly City Ale.

The Grizzlies are also bringing back a regular beer promotion that may have old school fans reminiscing about $2 Tecate tall cans on Thirsty Thursday — but with a focus on drinking local.

Grizzly City Ale will debut at Thursday night’s game against the Stockton Ports. The game will also be the introduction of Tioga Thursdays, with Tioga-Sequoia beer available for $10 for two 19.2 oz cans.

Grizzly City Ale draws it inspiration from the nickname first coined by Fashawn for his hometown of Fresno.

“The name ‘Grizzly City’ was inspired not only by the Fresno Grizzlies but by the grit and resilience of everday Fresnans,” Fashawn said at a Monday news conference announcing the partnership.

“I’m proud to be from this town and I make sure to represent it every chance that I get.”

Thursday’s beer launch will feature a pregame appearance by Fashawn at Chukchansi Park at 5:35 p.m. as well as a post-game concert at the Tioga-Sequoia beer garden across the street from the stadium.

The Grizzlies also announced a new membership, the Tioga Pass, that includes a ticket to all remaining Thursday home games for only $29. Buyers will also receive an exclusive Grizzly City Ale beer koozie from Tioga-Sequoia.
