The Child Development and Lab School at Reedley College will soon become a certified Nature Explore classroom.

Nature Explore is a collaborative program of the Arbor Day Foundation and the Dimensions Education Research Foundation that works to engage children with the natural world by incorporating outdoor elements, such as ground cover, trees and plants, into the classroom to enhance learning.

Nature Explore was recently awarded a grant from the US Forest Service to support the project at the Reedley College Child Development Center and Lab School. The value of the Nature Explore classroom and resources is $100,000.

The design phase of the program is currently underway. Two design consultation and educational workshops will be offered at Reedley College this week—Oct. 25 from 9 a.m. to noon and Oct. 26 from 9:30 to 11 a.m. Both sessions will be held in the Reedley College Child Development Resource building at 995 N. Reed Ave.
