The State Center Community College District (SCCCD) Board of Trustees has named Dr. Carole S. Goldsmith as the new president of Fresno City College.

The announcement was made Tuesday following the SCCCD’s board meeting.

Goldsmith is the current president at West Hills College in Coalinga.

“The Board is very pleased to provide our college and the community with a strong, competent individual who will hit the ground running,” SCCCD Board President Richard Caglia said.

Chancellor Paul Parnell said he is “looking forward to working with Dr. Goldsmith. She has impressive experience as a president who is dedicated to student success.”

“I am honored to serve as the president of Fresno City College,” Goldsmith said. “I’m excited to join the FCC team and to work with excellent faculty, staff and administrators committed to transforming the lives of our students.”

Goldsmith has more than 25 years of higher education experience with many of those years in senior leadership positions. Prior to serving as president of West Hills College Coalinga, she was in the West Hills Community College District where she served as vice chancellor of educational services workforce services and director of strategic workforce development/vocational education. She has experience as a college instructor as well as vice principal at Cesar Chavez Adult Education in Fresno.

A first-generation college student from Visalia, Goldsmith earned a B.A. in history from Fresno State, an M.S. in educational administration from National University in Fresno and her doctorate in educational leadership from the joint doctoral program at UC Davis and Fresno State.

She will start her position at FCC Aug. 1.
