A girl was arrested for stealing an airplane at Fresno Yosemite International Airport Wednesday morning.

The 17-year-old crossed the airport fence and managed to start one engine of the plane, according to a press release from FYI. The plane was a King Air 200 propeller driven aircraft that was in the General Aviation area, away from the commercial segment of the airport. The plane crashed into a building and a fence on airport property.

The aircraft never became airborne and the release said that  passengers nor other commercial aircraft were ever in danger. There were no reported injures, but the plane was severely damaged.

The girl whose identity was not released because of her age, was arrested by Fresno Police. When police found her, she was wearing the pilot’s headset and appeared disoriented and uncooperative. The motive is still under investigation.

Fresno Yosemite is currently working with the Federal Aviation Administration and other authorities to investigate this incident.

Footage of the event can be seen below.
