Classically trained violinist and songwriter Gaelynn Lea will be performing March 30 at Bitwise South Stadium.

Lea has been bewitching fans with her experimental and ambient takes on fiddle music, an approach that incorporates her love of traditional tunes, songwriting, poetry and sonic exploration.

“My aim is to create a meditative, layered sound that allows the listener’s mind to drift,” Lea said in a statement.

Lea most recently won NPR Music’s Tiny Desk Contest in March 2016. The competition draws submissions of original songs from more than 6,000 musicians across the country. After the contest, Lea’s musical reach spread and she began touring nationally last September. In December, she performed in Europe for the first time as support for Low’s Christmas tour. Lea’s stop in Bitwise South Stadium in Fresno is part of her second national tour.

“I am having so much fun out on the road,” Lea said. “I really enjoyed our first national tour; we met a lot of wonderful people during our travels. I am looking forward to seeing many of these folks again this time around, and meeting new people as well at Bitwise South Stadium.” The free, all-ages show starts at 7 p.m. To reserve a spot, visit http://www.ticketfly.com/event/1432877-gaelynn-lea-fresno/
