Fulton Street has been nominated in a contest that could net the Downtown Fresno Partnership $25,000 in cash and prizes.

National small business movement Independent We Stand has kicked off its third-annual America’s Main Streets contest with a theme of “Local Memories. Lasting Impact.” The Downtown Fresno Partnership is representing Fulton Street in the contest.

Fulton Street supporters are encouraged to go online and vote for Fulton Street to advance it to the next round. Nominations and quarterfinalist voting runs through April 22, with semifinalist voting April 30 to May 27 with a winner announcement planned for June 4.

Fulton Street is facing seven other nominees, including Monterey Road in Gilroy, Main Street Martinez and Fairhope, Alaska.

“Our Independent We Stand America’s Main Streets contest shines a light on the pride business owners and communities take in their Main Streets,” says Independent We Stand co-founder Bill Brunelle. “We know small businesses on these Main Streets help them thrive and have a measurable economic impact. This contest is a chance to share those stories with people from coast-to-coast.”
