With direct lineage to the Fresno Food Expo, the MADE Central California food show is back after a pandemic hiatus. This time, it is adding a televised competition called the Caglia Environmental Pressure Cooker.

The competition will highlight the most innovative new products from Made Central California. Much like ABC’s Shark Tank, Central California audiences will be able to follow the finalists in the weeks leading up to the main event at the end of August, hearing about their journey in the food industry. The event will be held at the Fresno Convention Center.

“On behalf of Caglia Environmental, we are excited to be a part of this event, and to support the innovative and cutting-edge food industry companies and entrepreneurs in central California,” said Richard Caglia, president and CEO of Caglia Environmental.

On Aug. 31 at 11 a.m. the finalists will present their products before a live audience and a panel of food industry experts for a chance to win $10,000, with additional cash prizes up for grabs for second and third place winners, according to a news release.

The judges have a combined expertise in venture capital funding, owning and operating a food manufacturing company and sales in foodservice, retail and tech start-ups. The winner will be announced live during the SIP, Social for Industry Professionals, at MADE Central California on the evening of Aug. 31.

“Like most industries right now, the food industry is being challenged to be more sustainable, to reduce and/or eliminate waste, and to integrate smarter technologies into everyday practices, and because a large part of our customer base is in the food industry, it is a priority for Caglia Environmental to support their growth efforts to divert food waste and packaging from landfills,” Caglia said.

The event is in partnership with the Fresno Chamber of Commerce.

Chamber Special Events Manager Rebecca Sustaita said that the brand awareness and industry feedback that contestants will gain is an additional perk of the competition.

“Providing these kinds of opportunities and resources to our region’s food industry is exactly why we host this event, and why we have partners like Caglia Environmental who believe in our mission,” Sustaita said.

Prospective contestants can register to exhibit now at www.madecentralca.com. Retail and food service buyers interested in attending can also register now free of charge. Sponsorships are also available.
