Fresno Yosemite Airport announced the award of $13.3 million airport infrastructure grant from the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) for the reconstruction of Taxiway C.

The grant is part of the FAA’s Airport Improvement Program for maintaining aviation infrastructure and supporting safety, capacity security and environmental improvements.

“The Taxiway C Reconstruction project is part of an ongoing commitment to ensure Fresno Yosemite International Airport remains operationally ready and positioned to accommodate future growth,” said Kevin Meikle, director of aviation. “In addition to providing a significant infrastructure investment on the airfield, the project will create nearly 150 construction related jobs supporting the airport’s continued impact to the regional economy.”

Taxiway C handles nearly 100,000 aircraft operations a year, serving as the primary taxiway for commercial, military general aviation, cargo, law enforcement, and medical and firefighting aircraft. Identified as a priority airfield project consistent with Fresno Yosemite International Airport’s FAA-Mandated Pavement Management Plan, the reconstruction will include the removal and replacement of existing pavement, lighting, markings and drainage facilities. Expected to begin in spring 2018, the multi-phased project will be completed over the course of one year.
