What began as a late-night craving for two women in Fresno turned into a website tracking mobile food options at all hours of the day.

Tacospinpoint.com launched in mid-August when owners Savanna Manzo and Albertina Rodriguez signed their first truck, Don Taco y Su Familia, to a subscription for the website.

Visitors to the website can find the location of taco trucks and details like whether they need to pull out cash in order to purchase food.

“Some trucks don’t take card, so people know whether they need to bring cash or not,” said Manzo. “That’s what our dilemma was too.”

Manzo and Rodriguez stay in contact with clients and update on the site where they’ll be for special events like Art Hop.

One of the trucks, Tacos La Mexicana in Visalia, moves around a lot. They have a morning and night schedule that they have to coordinate and input the locations onto the map.

Manzo said she started as a customer of her own service. When she and co-owner Rodriguez would travel the Fresno nightlife, they would waste a lot of gas looking for food.

“We’re probably not the only ones struggling to find taco trucks late at night,” Manzo said.

So, the two of them got together and bought the domain name. It took some trial-and-error to get the site working exactly as they wanted it. Now, they have three taco trucks and are working to getting their name out there with business owners and customers to know the site even exists.

They have to do a lot of their own scouting to find the trucks as well as finding the decision makers who can sign up for the service.

“Once you do find them,” she said, “the boss isn’t there so I have to wait for a phone call.”

When she tells people about the idea, some of them tell her it’s something everyone thought of but no one has done.

“If everyone was thinking of it, then I’m glad we’re the first ones and only ones to do it,” Manzo said.
