Fresno State’s Hmong Studies Program has been officially approved by the university as a new minor in the Department of Linguistics.

The new minor will begin in the fall semester with linguistics faculty member Dr. Ka-Ly Yang serving as program coordinator.

It is only the fifth such program in the nation and the first in the western U.S.

The minor consists of 20 units in Hmong culture, history and language.
