Noodle Express, a Laos and Thai restaurant that opened in Fresno’s Tower District in May, is now offering a new accoutrement that is gaining in popularity nationwide.

Customers can now add a few drops of CBD oil to give more kick to the Laotion and Thai dishes.

Lucy’s Red Hot CBD oil, made by Red Hot Organics, is a THC-free hemp and chili extract that is all organic. CBD derived from hemp is federally legal in the U.S.

CBD oil users swear by its therapeutic uses as a rubbing oil or food additive. By law, it contains only trace amounts of THC, the psychoactive compound found in marijuana.

Messages left for the owners of Noodle Express were not returned.

There are already a number of CBD food products on the market, including sparkling waters and candy, and the popularity of CBD cocktails and dishes at restaurants has been increasing.

According to survey from the National Restaurant Association, 3 in 4 chefs named CBD and cannabis-infused (not to be confused with hemp) food as a hot trend for 2019.

The Brightfield Group, a cannabis industry analyst, estimates that the hemp-CBD market alone could hit $22 billion by 2022.
