A Fresno resident will spend more than a year in prison after being convicted of conspiracy to produce, transfer, possess and sell false identification.

According to a press release issued from the office of U.S. Attorney Phillip A. Talbert, the suspect, Angelica Moreno Velasquez, 32, was sentenced to 15 months in prison by Chief U.S. Judge Lawrence J. O’Neill on Monday.

“This case was the product of an investigation by the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s (ICE), Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) and the California Department of Motor Vehicles, Investigations Division,” the release said.

According to court documents, Velasquez conspired with others between June 2015 and June 2016 to sell fraudulent identification documents, including social security cards and alien registration receipt cards, to customers who placed orders and paid as much as $150 for a set of fraudulent documents.

Velasquez was arrested last June, along with five co-defendants, for the scheme. In December, Francisco Javier Hidalgo-Flores was sentenced to 15 months in prison; Lizet Amairani Ramirez-Zazueta was sentenced to time served.

Charges are pending against the remaining co-defendants and a trial is scheduled to start on December 5.
