The Fresno Rescue Mission is inviting the community to come help clean up the area around its Downtown Fresno facility.

The “G Street Post-Holiday Clean-Up Event” is scheduled Saturday from 10 a.m. to noon, with participants encouraged to bring gloves, trash bags and trash grabbers to the Fresno Rescue Mission at 239 G St.

Participants are asked to meet for instructions and fellowship at the chapel before cleanup begins. Lunch will be provided to participants afterward.

“We, at the Fresno Rescue Mission, care about our homeless neighbors and our city. The holiday trash and debris left over from well-meaning individuals and organizations created an unsightly and unhealthy environment,” says Matt Dildine, CEO of The Fresno Rescue Mission. “We feel it’s our calling to help clean-up the feet of our great city and we welcome everyone to join our cause.”

After Christmas, downtown observers noted a larger-than-normal load of trash around G and Ventura streets, the result of direct donations of meals to homeless people in the area, reported ABC30 Action News.
