Fresno-based DiBuduo and DeFendis Insurance Brokers is expanding its Central Coast footprint with a recent acquisition.

The deal for Calvista Insurance Agency in Hollister was effective July 1. Calvista has been in operation since 2008. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

The acquisition bolsters DiBuduo and DeFendis’ reach in California, which includes 250 insurance professionals in nearly a dozen offices from Lodi to Los Angeles. Its Central Coast presence includes offices in Hollister and San Luis Obispo.

“We are excited to welcome the Calvista team and its clients to our company,” said Matt DeFendis, principal of DiBuduo and DeFendis (D&D). “This acquisition will undoubtedly strengthen our presence in San Benito County and throughout the great Golden State, and reflects our commitment to growing in our endeavor to better serve our clients as we work with every major insurance company and wholesale company in the country.”

Calvista’s book of business includes personal insurance, business insurance and agri-business, farm and ranch insurance in addition to hospitality industry insurance — including bed & breakfasts.

“We are looking forward to the new opportunities our team has by joining D&D and the ability to enhance our clients’ insurance opportunities and overall experience,” said Jayme Stewart, president of Calvista Insurance Agency.

The firm provides insurance to a diverse group of clients throughout the country, working with businesses to help them control insurance costs while keeping employees safe and productive.

Operating since 1960, D&D has been named the Best Central Valley Business for Property and Casualty Insurance by Business Journal for eight years running. It is one of the largest independent insurance agencies in California and is a three-generation family business.
