Fresno Housing has broken ground on Davu Village, a new affordable housing development officials say represents another step in the ongoing transformation of the Parkway Drive corridor in West Fresno.

The project, located at the former Golden State Triage Center site, will convert a previously distressed property into a housing community through a combination of adaptive reuse, rehabilitation of existing structures and new construction.

Davu Village will include 62 affordable housing units along with one manager’s unit and is expected to open in the fall of 2027.

The development will provide supportive housing for individuals transitioning out of homelessness or at risk of homelessness. The community will feature onsite services and amenities designed to support long-term housing stability, according to Fresno Housing.

Fresno Housing CEO Tyrone Roderick Williams said the project reflects the organization’s focus on creating communities that provide stability and opportunity.

“At the core of this project, it’s about creating housing opportunities and providing a foundation of stability,” Williams said during the groundbreaking ceremony Wednesday.

The project is the latest milestone in ongoing efforts by the city and county of Fresno to revitalize the Parkway Drive corridor, an area that has long struggled with crime, blight and homelessness.
