The Fresno Grizzlies have released a request for proposals for a solar power installation at Chukchansi Park.

The stadium uses an annual average of more than 3 million kilowatt-hours of electricity, resulting in a projected $600,000 in energy payments for the current calendar year. The facility sits on nine acres.

Proposals are due to the organization’s front office by Sept. 12. at 5 p.m. Respondents that do not visit the stadium in person by Aug. 31 will not be considered. for more information and to arrange access to the stadium, contact Allison Farrell at afarrell@fresnogrizzlies.com.

According to team officials, between Grizzlies home games, Fresno FC home soccer matches and other exhibition games as well as more than 100 community events held at the stadium each year, a transition to solar energy is a logical next step for the team’s new ownership group, according to a news release.

“’Going green’ is more than just a catch phrase these days, and it’s important we’re staying up with the best ways to keep Chukchansi Park viable,” said Fresno Grizzlies President Derek Franks. “Our finances are certainly important, but we need to make sure, along with our soccer and concert partners, that we’re using energy in the most responsible way possible. The stadium is in use more days than not, so we look forward to seeing the proposals.”
