According to finance website WalletHub, Fresno is one of the lowest-scoring metro areas for workers in the science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) professions.

The list looked at the 100 largest US metro areas and the data ranges from per-capita job openings for STEM graduates to wage growth and future demand. Fresno was ranked at No. 87 on the list with an overall score of 34.5. It was ranked at No. 98, 56 and 84 for professional opportunities, STEM friendliness and quality of life, respectively.

The three best cities for STEM professionals according to the list were Seattle, Boston and Pittsburgh, with Memphis, North Point, FL and Jackson, MS being the three worst overall.
