Caglia Environmental is inviting Fresno County residents to dispose of their Christmas trees for free this weekend.

The disposal event is scheduled for Jan. 12 from 7 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. at the Cedar Avenue Recycling and Transfer Station (CARTS), 3457 S. Cedar Ave., in Fresno.

Richard Caglia, head of corporate development for Caglia Environmental, said the effort is meant to encourage proper green waste disposal and discourage roadside dumping.

“Disposing of natural trees can be inconvenient, requiring that residents cut the trees up into small sections to fit into green waste containers,” Caglia said. “This way, each resident can bring in the whole tree without cutting it up.”

All decorations must be removed prior to disposal, and only one natural Christmas tree per vehicle will be accepted for free. Trees with lights and/or decorations and artificial trees will be charged as trash.

For more information, contact the Caglia Environmental business office at 559-233-1158.
