The Fresno Metro Black Chamber of Commerce has announced a new program to honor leading African Americans in the greater Fresno area.

The inaugural Onyx 100 honoree reception is taking place Friday starting at 5:30 p.m. at the KJWL/ESPN studios at 1415 Fulton St. in Downtown Fresno.

The Onyx 100 list recognizes the 100 top African American leaders in the Fresno area, and is part of the Fresno Metro Black Chamber’s ongoing 15-year anniversary celebration.

The reception is free to attend, but RSVPs are welcomed.

The inaugural class will be officially recognized at the Onyx 100 Gala taking place on Aug. 19. The event will also feature the release of the Chamber’s new business profile and community guide magazine, The Onyx.
