Fresno State athletic officials announced Friday that a former student-athlete who wished to remain anonymous donated $1.5 million toward expansion plans for Bulldog Stadium.

Fresno State Athletic Director Jim Bartko received the gift Thursday night at a gathering of Bulldog supporters.

Officials have set a goal of raising $40 million by 2017, with about half coming from private donors and the other from developing naming rights to the stadium.

The total project price tag is projected at $60 million.

The stadium is currently undergoing a $300,000 upgrade to the existing perimeter fencing. Other future milestones include renovation of restrooms and concessions by 2018 and seating bowl modifications a year later, with the renovated stadium projected to open in fall 2019.
