Rumors have been circulating about the reopening of Livingstone’s Restaurants & Pub in Fresno’s Tower District. Claims from Instagram page Fresno Street Eats stated that the “word” is the long-awaited bar and eatery would be open on Dec. 5.

Inspectors from the City of Fresno’s Development and Resource Management department are giving Livingstone’s its final inspection today.

Because of that, Mark Standriff, director of communications for the City of Fresno, said it might be a little early to set an opening date for the restaurant, which closed in December 2016 due to a suspected arsonist.

This isn’t the first time Livingstone’s has reportedly neared reopening.

“They’ve had to go back to the drawing board” more than once, Standriff said.

News reports of Livingstone’s reopening came and went throughout 2017. But as happens often with restaurants, permits get delayed and projections fall apart.

Tower District anchor Livingstone’s shut down at the end of 2016 when a fire raged through the restaurant, causing upwards of $500,000 in reported damages. It opened on Fern Avenue in 1985.
