Gar Tootelian, Inc. is joining forces with KMJ Radio, the Market and Farm Credit once again for the third annual Feeding Families Fund Drive today.

According to GAR President Greg Musson, lawmakers and regulators have largely ignored the ag industry and the hard working families in rural communities, leaving many Valley families, children and seniors hungry.

The Community Food Bank, he said, helps to fill this gap, supporting 180 agencies and soup kitchens in Fresno, Kern, Kings, Madera and Tulare counties with 38 million pounds of food annually. Donations from today’s drive will benefit the food bank.

A $10 donation will feed a family of four for a week and GAR will match it with another $5. Over the past two years, the Feeding Families Fund Drive has raised $150,000 to provide a million meals.

“GAR is a small, local company that cares deeply about the families and communities in which we work and live,” Musson said in a statement. “While our prayers for rain and better politicians have yet to be answered, our hope this year is to double last year’s donations and our match. To do so, we need a lot more people to get involved and donate.”

People can donate in one of three ways: in person from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. at The Market at 7088 N. West Ave. in Fresno; by mailing in a check payable to Community Food Bank at 3403 E. Central Ave., Fresno, CA 93725; or online at communityfoodbank.net. Don’t forget to say your contribution is part of the GAR match.
