Local radio station KMJ 580 AM/105.9FM teamed up with local ag company Gar Tootelian Inc. to break records in raising over $380,000 for the Central California Food Bank.

After a day-long broadcast on Sept. 14, hosted by KMJ personalities John Broeske, Christina Musson, Ray Appleton, and Chris Daniel, listeners donated more than $150,000 in cash, with the Smittcamp Family Foundation donating $100,000, and Gar Tootelian Inc. matching donations with 50 cents on every dollar, which totaled $126,000.

This year’s take will provide 2.5 million meals for the food insecure in the Central Valley. Over the past five years, the annual one day event has raised over $1 million dollars and provided nearly 8 million meals.

“We are so blessed by the very generous support of KMJ, Gar Tootelian and everyone who gave to this year’s Feeding Families Fund Drive. We will be able to provide over 2.5 million meals to families in need with the proceeds from this year’s drive. The GAR match continues to go far beyond all of our expectations,” said Andy Souza, CEO of the Central California Food Bank.
