NewsTalk 580/105.9 KMJ, Gar Tootelian and Fresno-Madera Farm Credit’s recent Feeding Families Food Drive raised $231,000 for the Community Food Bank.

The total far surpassed the group’s previous fundraisers.

Listeners donated more than $154,000 in cash for the food drive, which was held last Friday during a day-long broadcast at The Market grocery store in Fresno with John Broeske, Christina Musson, Ray Appleton and Chris Daniel

Agricultural services firm Gar Tootelian also donated $77,000 as part of a match of 50 cents for every dollar raised by listeners.

“I’m overwhelmed by the support of our community, said Patty Hinson, KMJ vice president and general manager. “We can always count on the generosity of our highly-valued KMJ listeners. A special thanks to Karen and Greg of Gar Tootelian for their massive contribution and the hard work of our talented on-air team.”

The amount raised will be able to provide more than 1.5 million meals.

“I continue to be amazed by the generosity of the community, growers and businesses in the Central Valley that helped us exceed our goal and raised more than a million meals,” said Karen Musson, managing partner Gar Tootelian Inc.
