Valley Children’s Healthcare cut the ribbon on its new primary care center in Clovis with help from Oakland Raiders quarterback Derek Carr.

Located on the northwest corner of Herndon and Temperance avenues, the new center, Magnolia Pediatrics, is part of a 19,000-square-foot complex built to meet the primary care needs of families in the Fresno Clovis area and will occupy 5,263 square feet of the building.

“Anytime you have to come a hospital or anywhere, it’s a scary time,” said Carr, adding it’s important that “the children here at the Central Valley and in Clovis now have a place to come where you know that the care is top notch, second to none.”

Headed by Dr. Mike Simonian and nurse practitioner Janice Santos, the center will provide such services as wellness checks, immunizations and same-day sick-child visits.

“We promise that we will take great care of your kids under the guidance of Doctor Simonian and his team and that team will be growing in the future,” said Todd Suntrapak, president and CEO of Valley Children’s.

The founder of the DC4KIDS charity, Derek Carr and his wife Heather are both supporters of Valley Children’s, their oldest son Dallas being a former patient as a newborn. Over the course of two years, DC4KIDS has raised $450,000 for the network.

Currently, Valley Children’s is building two other outpatient centers similar to Magnolia Pediatrics in Bakersfield and Modesto. These clinics are expected to open in October and February 2019, respectively.
