Former NFL quarterback David Carr is among the 2017 inductees to the Fresno Athletic Hall of Fame to be honored later this year.

 

Carr, a former Fresno State and 11-year NFL quarterback who was the No. 1 selection in the 2002 NFL draft, is among the class that also includes:

— John Harris, founder of the Harris Farms Horse Division, established in 1966 and recognized world-wide for the breeding and raising of California Chrome

— Melvin Ely, Fresno State and nine-year NBA standout who was a first round selection in the 2002 NBA draft.

— Roger George, Fresno State and international decathlon track-and-field standout in the ‘70s and ’80s

— Teri McKeever, Fresno State and Cal women’s swimming coach with four NCAA titles, as well as head coach of the 2012 U.S. Olympic team

— The 1977-80 San Joaquin Memorial girls basketball teams that won 100 games, including four Valley titles

The Fresno Athletic Hall of Fame’s 59th annual Enshrinement Dinner will be held at the Fresno Convention Center on Nov. 2.
