The City of Clovis has just started a photography contest that offers residents a glimpse into the past.

The theme of the contest is “Get the Picture.” Contestants are asked to recreate older photos taken in Clovis that tell a local story. Subjects can be landmarks, events or portraits.

“The older photo may be a family picture taken in front of a house in 1976,” said Karey Cha, event organizer, “and the newer photo might include the same family, in front of the same house 40 years later.”

Participants are encouraged to be creative. The only rule is that the subject of the pictures must somehow include the City of Clovis.

Prizes will be awarded to the first and second-place winners, decided by a panel of judges. A Fan Favorite prize will also be awarded for the photo that receives the most “likes” on Facebook.

To view some examples, to find additional information, and for an official application, participants are encouraged to visit www.cityofclovis.com.
