Central Valley Community Bank is holding its 11th annual free document shredding events this week.

In 2016 there were 15.4 million victims of identity fraud in the United States, according to bank officials, and Central Valley Community Bank, in conjunction with Valley Crime Stoppers, wants to prevent these thefts by encouraging customers, community businesses and individual residents to shred confidential files safely and securely.

The document shredding events will be held at 18 Central Valley Community Bank locations through May 24. All events will be held from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. unless otherwise noted.

Local shredding event dates and locations include:

April 11 at 40004 Highway 41, Ste. 101, in Oakhurst
April 19 at Fig Garden Village Shopping Center in Fresno
April 25 at Herndon and Fowler in Clovis
May 2 at 260 S. Madera in Kerman
May 2 at 29430 Auberry Road in Prather (1 p.m. to 3 p.m.)
May 8 at 1919 Howard Road in Madera (9 to 11 a.m.)
May 8 between the Exhibit Hall and Galleria in Downtown Fresno (1 to 3 p.m.)
May 10 at 2245 W. Caldwell in Visalia
May 17 at 600 Pollasky in Old Town Clovis
May 24 at Mission Oaks in Visalia (9 to 11 a.m.)
May 24 at Pine and F. Street in Exeter (1 to 3 p.m.)
