Food Network chef Jet Tila came to Fresno Monday to help Community Regional Medical Center kick off Hospital Week with an afternoon of cooking, and dozens of activities and fun events.

The winning dish

Tila, who stars in the show “Chopped,” was the host of an employee cooking contest where teams were challenged to prepare dishes with unusual ingredients.

Three judges tasted food prepared by teams with ingredients including frog legs, fennel, Fruit Roll-Ups, duck eggs and dragon fruit.

The teams started off with an appetizer and after tasting the dishes, the judges eliminated several teams. After the second main course round, more teams left the stage until the final winner was decided in the third and final dessert round.

Sister duo Cassie and Shawna took first at the end of the competition with a dessert consisting of cold pizza bread, hot tamales, Mexican chocolate and dragon fruit.

This was the second year Tila appeared at the hospital to host the competition.

Hospital Week will run until Saturday.
