California USA Wrestling, Inc. state championship events recently brought thousands to Fresno’s Selland Arena, resulting in a significant uptick in hotel stays for back-to-back weekends.

The Frosh-Soph Freestyle State Championships held March 11-12 brought in a total of 1,859 hotel room nights and the Kids Folkstyle State Championships last weekend resulted in 1,810 hotel room nights. Combined, the City of Fresno saw 3,669 hotel room nights. The original projected amount for both state championship weekends was 2,800.

With a multi-year contract in place through 2020 between the Fresno Convention and Entertainment Center and CA-USA Wrestling, the City of Fresno and the Fresno/Clovis Convention and Visitors Bureau are hopeful that future events will continue to grow and bring in a substantial amount of hotel room nights and tourism.
