A sign on a Blackstone Avenue building suggests a taco joint with some national notoriety is expanding to Central Fresno.

Work is being done on Tacos y Mariscos Tijuana at 4313 N. Blackstone Ave., across from the In-N-Out near Ashlan Avenue. The location will the third iteration of the Fresno-based Mexican-food restaurant. Tacos y Moriscos Tijuana, Inc. has locations at both 4170 E. Belmont Ave. and at 3838 E. Ventura Ave.

A sign at the Blackstone location says the restaurant will open soon, but offers not much more clarification beyond that morsel of knowledge. From the outside, the building appears to offer ample seating to comfortably dine in as well as order to-go.

The California Secretary of State website lists Juan Delgado of Fresno as CEO.

No one from the restaurant was immediately available to comment, but a worker did confirm the Blackstone location belonged to the Tacos Tijuana family.

The restaurant’s claim to fame came in 2016 when then-presidential candidate Bernie Sanders dined at the Ventura Avenue location following a rally at the Fresno Fairgrounds. According to the Fresno Bee, Sanders ordered a chicken platter.

Along with its eponymous dishes of tacos and seafood, Tacos Tijuana also serves burritos, soups and tortas.

Before becoming a Mexican-food joint, that location previously housed Golden Horse Chinese Restaurant.
