Local construction supply store Alert-O-Lite celebrated its grand opening and 47th year in business at its new location in Fresno Monday.

Alert-O-Lite’s new home is in the former Wilson’s Motorcycles location at 2436 Foundry Park Ave. near Golden State Boulevard and Church Avenue right off of Highway 99.

The previous storefront northwest of Alert-O-Lite’s new home had to be moved because of its location on the California High Speed Rail route. It took about four years to find the new location. The former Wilson’s Motorcycles had been vacant for about two years.

Alert-O-Lite is also celebrating its partnership with hardware store chain True Value, with whom they’ve had a partnership with for years. They helped with the opening of the new store.

“When we were being relocated we went and met with them [True Value] and they partnered with us for the new store,” said President of Alert-O-Lite Debbie Hunsaker. “They provided guidance, helped us do the site plan, and provided a lot of the inventory which is going to now allow us to go into a more expansive part of the market.”

There is also an area in the back of the store for SignMax, a sign and decal company started by Hunsaker that operates under Alert-O-Lite.

The new store covers approximately 34,000 square feet. The costs for renovating the store ran up to about $500,000, Hunsaker said.

Present at the event was Mayor Lee Brand; Rep. Jim Costa; Tom Richards, vice chairman of the California High Speed Rail Board, Supervisor for Fresno County’s District 5 Nathan Magsig and more.
