The latest scores from The Leapfrog Group have been released, giving top marks to three hospitals in the Central Valley area for patient safety.

According to the organization’s Fall 2019 patient safety report, Kaiser Permanente Fresno — along with Adventist Health’s Selma and Hanford hospitals — were given “A” ratings. The Leapfrog Group, a coalition of public and private purchasers of employee health coverage, looked at more than 2,600 hospitals throughout the country.

“We continue to be recognized nationally for putting patient safety at the forefront of everything we do,” said Wade Nogy, senior vice president and area manager for Kaiser Permanente Fresno. “This top safety score demonstrates the commitment we have to providing high-quality care to our members and patients we serve.”

Elsewhere, Saint Agnes Medical Center in Fresno, Madera Community Hospital, Kaweah Delta Medical Center in Visalia and Sierra View Medical Center in Porterville all received “C” ratings from the group for safety.

The Leapfrog Group looks at such factors as how well a hospital prevents infections, encourages hand washing, supports strong health care teams and promotes error prevention policies.
