The Central Valley’s biggest tech competition is getting ready to kick off its second year back after a hiatus, with new changes and a new theme this year.

Starting Sunday at midnight, 59DaysOfCode 2018 will put programmers together to find solutions to local issues. This year’s theme is smart cities, which will focus on improving operations and systems in the Valley on a technological level. This year will also see the introduction of hardware on the list of applicable projects.

A kickoff event for the competition will be held at Bitwise Stadium tomorrow at 9 p.m. The expo for 59DaysOfCode will be held on Aug. 11.

Last year’s competition, which gives developers a time limit to develop applications, was the first one after a two-year break. This year’s event will be the seventh 59 Days of Code competition.
