Officials at Fresno Yosemite International Airport have decided to continue the reduced parking rates that began during the holiday season.
Instead of an $8 flat rate for the long-term lot, motorists can receive the short-term lot rate of $6 for the first two hours of parking. After the first two hours, the rate will revert to the flat $8 fee.
Hourly parking rates in the short-term lot will remain at $1 for each 20 minutes up to a maximum of $12 per day.
The reduced rates first began last year on Nov. 23 and were scheduled to last through Jan. 8., 2012.
Due to their success over the holiday season, especially for passengers and guests making brief visits to the airport, officials have decided to continue the rates indefinitely.
The airport, which boasts nine airlines offering around 40 daily departures, saw an increase in parking revenues in 2011. In October, parking revenues rose 30 percent compared to October 2010, making it the highest single month of parking revenues in the airport's history.
Ridership also rose with 1,166,808 passengers flying out of FYI from January to November 2011 compared to 1,088,302 the year before.
