Amgen cycling tour returns to Clovis in '12

The Amgen Tour of California bicycle race will return to the city of Clovis on May 16, 2012 after its successful run through the town in 2009.

The tour which brought cycling legend Lance Armstrong to the Valley in 2009 returns to Clovis as the end of Stage 4. The start city for Stage 4 is Sonora, which is new to the tour along with the city of Ontario.

Clovis city officials are encouraged the tour is returning. Shawn Miller, the city's business development manager, said he hopes the stage finish will be in Old Town Clovis, as it was in 2009, reported The Fresno Bee, adding that the event drew an estimated $830,000 in local economic activity.
